As a Public Service Announcement, I would like to bring you this image:

The cam follower, between the fuel pump and the intake camshaft has been a known weak point of the 2.0T FSI motor, and needs to be checked regularly.  If left unchecked, these parts can fail without any excess noise or signs until it’s already far too late.

On multiple motors now with failed followers, the motors have required new fuel pump assemblies, cam followers, and intake cams, leading to be a costly repair.  This does not apply only to high performance fuel pumps, this applies to all of the 2.0T FSI motors.

Check your cam follower’s surfaces for excessive wear frequently!
